My Reusable Life: Glaiza, Founder of Vegan Lip Balm company, Dearest Lips

What’s your go-to reusable item?
My water bottle for sure. I drink so much water that I can't go without one. I currently use and love my Honua stainless steel drink bottle (www.honuadrink.com.au). I prefer ones without a straw, so this one is perfect for me.
Your top tip for never leaving home without it?
Always pack a reusable shopping tote bag, or two! You'll never know when you'll need them.
How do you try to be a conscious consumer?
If I need a new item, I'll do some research first to ensure I support a brand that uses plastic-free packaging and is ethical (not just the finished product).
The best eco tip you’ve heard?
Being eco-conscious is a journey. Don't go on a shopping spree just to get rid of all the plastics you own. Keep using your current items until they actually need replacing.
Favourite eco brand?
My Shay (www.myshayorganics.com)is a personal favourite. They hand make amazing deodorants and have refills that come in compostable packaging.
Small or big - what’s your current eco aim?
As a business (www.dearestlips.com.au), our mission is produce quality products and reduce plastic waste, one compostable lip balm at a time.
Your favourite place to buy fresh produce or package lite food…
Our local farmer's markets, however we try to grow our own produce too. If shopping at mainstream stores, we buy fruit and veggies that haven't been pre-packaged in plastic.
What eco alternative are you thinking about investing in?
Eco underwear, especially for that time of the month! I like the sound of Modibodi (www.modibodi.com).
What did ISO make you realise you could live without?
As a family we'd go shopping every week and often the kids would come home with a small toy. We've gone months without going out to shop, and it's been fine. The 'one small purchase' adds up over time. We've really just enjoyed the extra time at home 😊
